The china and glass department was able to order items for customers to select as wedding gifts. It was probably the forerunner of todays Gift List department.

China and Glass was very different then with very traditional bone china.
In the days before computers everything was done by hand.
Ordering was done on grid cards.
Grandfather and grandmother clocks were very popular.
Canteens of cutlery were good sellers for wedding presents
